My Story, By Andrew

Andrew Stories

Hello, my name is Andrew. I was born January 23, 1984. When I came into this world I had the umbilical cord around my neck and over my ear that caused me to have CP but a mild case growing up for me wasn’t a hard one. I had two older brothers, Matt and Mike. Whatever my brothers did, I did. Where ever they went, I went So by doing that I learned how to walk early. Yes, I would fall sometimes. My Mom knew there had to be a reason for my falling and took me to the doctor. It took four doctors to tell my Mom I have Cerebral Palsy. I was four years old when my parents found out what I had and why I was falling all the time. So, now they knew ways to improve it. So, as I grew up and started school I was in OT and PT until there wasn’t anymore they could do. That is when my pediatrician suggested leg braces. I started by having the ones that slide into my shoes and as I grew up so did the braces. They started to go further up my legs. The doctor told my Mom as I got older mu CP would make it hard for me to get around. I started using a walker in High School. I had my first surgery my Freshman year or Sophomore year on both legs. My Junior year I had knee surgery. They found in my knee you have three muscles in your leg and none of mine were working in my right leg. Learning this cased me to ponder how I can fix this problem. That’s when I started going to the gym and working out with trainers. I also workout at home. So furthermore, as my Grandfather always said if you don’t use it, you lose it.
